Payment Options

The Township of Cavan Monaghan has a variety of payment options available to pay tax, water and wastewater or any other municipal bills.

  • At your local bank branch
  • Through your Mortgage Company (Property Taxes only)
  • Digital Banking (Mobile/On-line/Telephone) - If you currently use on-line and/or telephone bill payments through your Canadian Financial Institution you have access to pay bills easily from the comfort of your home as part of your banking agreement, without any third-party fees/charges.
    1. For any payment type below, to add the Township of Cavan Monaghan as a payee by selecting the 'add a payee' option in your online/telephone banking and type "Cavan". This will result in a list of three (3) available options.
    2. Select the payment type from the populated list of three (3) available options;
      • Property Tax payments, select the Cavan Monaghan (TWP) TAXES. - Enter your nineteen (19) numeric digits of the roll number printed on your tax bill. All roll numbers begin with 1509 and end with 0000.  
      • Water & Wastewater payments, select Cavan Monaghan (TWP) UTILITIES - Enter the eight (8) numeric digits of your account number printed on your Water & Wastewater Utility bill. Do not enter a period or decimal.  For example; account number 123456.01 would be entered as 12345601
      • General payments (all other municipal invoices), select Cavan Monaghan (TWP) GENERAL - Cavan Monaghan (TWP) GENERAL – for all General payments (other municipal invoices i.e. dog licenses, building permits, facility rentals, etc.).
        • Facility Rentals - Enter the eight (8) numeric digits of your account number as printed on your invoice or if you have an older ten (10) digit account number, please remove two zero’s from your old account number.  For example; 4900001234 (older ten digit account number) should be entered as 49001234 (eight digit account number).
        • All other municipal invoices (animal licence, building permit, etc) - Enter the eight (8) alpha/numeric account number as printed on your current invoice. (i.e. SMITH001) 

Note; Numbers 1 and 2 listed above are only required the first time you set up Cavan Monaghan as a payee with your financial institution. Thereafter, you may choose Cavan Monaghan from your available list of payees.

  • Pre-Authorized Monthly and Installment Payment Plan - complete the application form and return the signed application form, including a void cheque, to the municipality by email, mail or after hours drop box.
  • Water & Sewer Pre-Authorized Payment Plan - complete the application form, and return the signed application form, including a void cheque, to the municipality by email, mail or after hours drop box.
  • By mail - cheques, along with your payment stub 
  • In Person - at the Municipal Office by cash, cheque, interact (within office hours, not during municipal/pandemic closures)
  • Drop Off Box – at the Municipal Office by cheque in the after hours drop box (located at the main front door)
  • Coming Soon - Virtual City Hall, an online citizen self service portal to manage resident accounts. Residents will have access to view property taxes, water & wastewater accounts, animal licensing including self serve options to make payments, change billing preferences, set up pre-authorized payments, and so much more. Enhanced online payment options by Visa or MasterCard (services fees applicable) will also be available.
